# What is a catch-all email domain?

A catch-all domain is a mail setup that accepts messages sent to any address at that domain, even an address that does not exist.

By Invenitor team. Updated 2026-11-01.

## Why does this matter?

A checking tool cannot tell whether a person's mailbox is real, since the domain says yes to everything. Tools often label these as "accept all" or "unknown" rather than valid.

## What should you do?

Send a small number first and watch for replies and late bounces. A personal, specific message lowers the harm if an address is wrong, because you only sent one.
