# What are SPF, DKIM and DMARC?

SPF, DKIM and DMARC are settings on your domain that help mailbox providers confirm a message really came from you.

By Invenitor team. Updated 2026-11-01.

## Which of them do you need?

Google says all senders to Gmail must set up SPF or DKIM. Senders of more than 5,000 messages a day to Gmail must also set up DMARC and align their domain ([Google sender guidelines](https://support.google.com/a/answer/81126)). Setting up all three is sensible even at low volume.

## Where do you set them?

In your domain's DNS settings. Your email provider gives you the exact records to add. Most business mail providers have a step-by-step page for this.
