How to find an email from a LinkedIn profile
To find an email from a LinkedIn profile, first check the person's contact info section and linked site, then ask them on the platform, or paste the profile link into a contact lookup.

What does the profile itself already show?
Open the profile and look at the contact info link near the top. Some people list an email there, and being connected may reveal more. People who want to be contacted often add it. It is worth checking first, because it is free and the address is one they chose to share.
Then read the About section. Consultants, freelancers and founders often write something like "reach me at" with an address. Also look at their featured links. A personal site, newsletter or calendar page usually has a contact route.
Should you just message them on LinkedIn?
Often, yes. If the person is active on the platform, a short connection note can work better than an email, because they can see who you are immediately. Mention one specific thing and ask one small question. Check the platform's current limits on notes and messages, which change over time and differ by account.
Email has advantages too. It has no length limit, it is easier to forward internally, and many senior people read their inbox more than their notifications. If a person has not logged in for months, or their activity is empty, an email is likely the better route.
How do you do a contact lookup from the link?
On Invenitor, this is the simplest flow when you already know the person:
- Copy the full profile link from your browser's address bar. It should look like linkedin.com/in/ followed by a name or an ID.
- Paste the link into Invenitor. A GitHub profile link works the same way.
- Add the person's name if you have it. It helps.
- You get an email, a phone, or both when Invenitor has them. It costs 1 credit (₹2), and only when one comes back.
- The contact stays in your Contacts. Opening the same person again is free.
Developers can do the same over the REST API, and agents through MCP. If you have a CSV of links, a short script over the API works, within the published rate limit of five lookups a minute.
What can go wrong with a profile link?
A few details cause most of the trouble with lookups:
- Search-result links and shortened share links may not be the person's real profile address. Open the profile, then copy the address.
- Links from the mobile app sometimes carry extra text after the name. Removing everything after the ? keeps it clean.
- A common name makes it easier to mix up two people. Check the email's domain against their company before you write.
- An old role on the profile can mean an old address. If the address is at a company they have left, it may bounce.
- A profile with a blank or private page gives you little to check the person against, so take more care.
Is an email from a profile safe to use?
Check it against what you know. Does the domain match where they work now? If the email is at a former employer, it is probably not read any longer. Invenitor does not guess addresses and does not run mailbox checks, so you may also want to read how to lower your bounce rate before sending to many people.
Using it is a separate question from finding it. Having someone's email does not mean they agreed to marketing. Write one person, with a real reason, and stop if they say no. LinkedIn's own rules apply to anything you do on LinkedIn, so read them if you use other tools on the site. Do not automate actions on the platform.
What should you say in the first message?
Your first line should show why you picked this person, using what you just read on their profile. "I read your post on cutting return rates in D2C" works. "I came across your impressive profile" does not, because it could be sent to anybody.
Then say what you want in a single sentence, and make it small. Asking for a yes or no is easier to answer than asking for a call. Read how to write a first email to a stranger for examples, and how to follow up if you hear nothing.
Common questions
- Can I look up an email from a LinkedIn link for free?
- Check the profile's contact info first. If it is not there, Invenitor's signup credits cover a few lookups, and you pay only when a contact comes back.
- Will the person know I looked them up?
- Invenitor does not contact anyone. You write to them yourself, from your own email or phone.
