What is a hard bounce?

A hard bounce is a permanent delivery failure, which usually means the address does not exist or the receiving system will never accept your mail.

What should you do after a hard bounce?

Stop sending to that address. Do not retry it. Look for another route to the person, such as a company contact form or a mutual contact, or check what else you can try.

Why do people bounce after moving on?

Work addresses often close when someone leaves a company. An address that worked last year can bounce today, which is why old lists bounce more.
